5 unsuccessful IVFs led us to Gynem Clinic. Both my husband and I are 46 yrs. old, and left it too late to start a family; assuming we had all the time in the world and that since we led an active heathy life, making babies would not be an issue.
We started trying approx. 8yrs ago, living in Dubai meant that Fertility Clinics were plentiful, and we have had some interesting (not always in a good way) experiences in the 4 clinics we sought help from. Unfortunately, due to the quantity and quality of my eggs we realised that we couldn’t do this on our own.
After speaking to a trusted Fertility Doctor, we started exploring the possibility of an egg donor in Spain or Prague, we consulted with a friend who had used Gynem Clinic before and chose Prague. We were also intent on having a baby that would resemble our features.
We arranged a consultation with a Fertility Co-ordinator and that’s when we met Adriana. Adriana throughout the whole process has been informative, helpful, and supportive. We had several other web consults with Dr Bartosova and Adriana. They were easy to speak to and co-ordinated everything seamlessly. Although there was a slight language barrier, it never presented itself as a problem, and Gynem put together supporting documents to read through to understand the process in full. IVF is difficult to plan when you are waiting for cycles to start and linings to thicken, but for the most part it was easy to arrange.
My husband and I decided to stay in Prague for the whole process which included a scan of my Uterus, the sperm sample taken, donor eggs fertilisation, daily updates of the embryo’s development and egg transfer. We flew on a Monday and didn’t leave until the following Wednesday (9 days later). Gynem kindly helped with accommodation and gave recommendations for places to stay where days could be added or deducted based on the progression of treatment. They also provided one taxi ride to the clinic, which we availed of on our first visit and the airport transfer. This helped us to get our bearings and prepare us for how we would travel there for future appointments. The clinic is not in the centre of Prague but there is enough public transport available to easily get there. If like us you enjoy walking, the area is beautiful and when the weather is nice, a walk is the perfect way to calm yourself and embrace the journey you are on.
Our treatment did not go entirely as we had hoped, my husband contracted COVID a few months earlier and due to the amount of unknown data on vaccines and the virus itself meant there was complication with his sperm sample. We did, however, transfer one embryo and we were delighted that despite the setback we still had an opportunity. The embryologist performed some high-level science to get the best result he could from the sample, and we were so glad that we chose the optimum package. When we received any updates from the clinic (embryo development day 1-5), it was always given at the same time each day, and this helped to avoid any unnecessary worry and stress.
Although this time the treatment was unsuccessful both my husband and I feel very confident in what the Gynem Clinic did for us and how determined they were to help us achieve our dream. We have decided to go back to Gynem Clinic and try again. We won't spend 9 days in Prague again as we believe all we would need to do is fly over to give the sample and again for the egg transfer, this can be done separately. Prague is a beautiful city, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, but we were there for one thing only. Gynem is highly recommended, largely because of the ease of getting the treatment done, despite being in a different country, the level of care we received, the communication between the clinic and ourselves, and the professionalism of all the staff.
We have a lot of experience to compare with, and other Fertility Clinics pale in comparison to Gynem Clinic. Some clinics we have used don’t hide the fact that they are there to take money, keep you waiting without explanation, don’t bother to inform you of the process or procedures, keep changing the price of treatments and all in all make you feel like you’re a thing on conveyor belt and not a person/people facing a very personal and emotional experience.
Thank you Gynem, we may not have been successful on our first try with you, but we trust that if it’s going to happen for us, we believe you are the clinic to make it happen.
